1973 - Adaptive Process Control
The Medar division of Welding Technology Corp. was once totally involved in the field of medicine.
Its monitoring equipment was introduced in the industrial process at the request of a major automotive supplier that
wanted to apply monitoring and control for its resistance welding needs.
The Medar control was one of the first systems to achieve effective process control using plant-floor minicomputers.
These systems monitored critical welding parameters and provided real-time corrective feedback during production.
Their use dramatically improved weld quality and assured production reliability.
