Safety is First Consideration
First of all, the welding equipment must offer the operator the safest system available. The welding control operating on a 3-phase mains of 380V to 480V will produce a DC bus inside the inverter that ranges from 540VDC to 680VDC. This output is provided to the DCIT (DC Integrated Transformer) weld gun that the operator is holding in his hands. This requires a fast acting Ground Fault System to protect the operator. Ground Fault Systems vary in protection from the simplest 30mA GFI circuit breaker to a more robust system such as an integrated Dual Redundancy Ground Fault System that provides dual 30mA GFI with continuous ground cable integrity checking, cable insulation verification, and grounded cable shielding protection with its corresponding grounding verification.
