Sample Case: Setting Up for 5 Stack Ups Using Single Trigger
Step 09
We need to make a reference weld. We need to season the welding caps with a series of approximately 15 welds. In doing this seasoning, we can adjust the welding current that will produce a quality reference weld. Doing a series of 179 mS welds, starting with the current setting for stack 1 of 8000A and increment it upwards until you see a reasonable amount of resistance drop.
Step 10
Because the force of stack 1 calls for 2.6 kN of tip force and welding at 8000A, having an actual force of 3.1 kN of tip force would see a reduced resistance so the current would need to be increased. Keep adjusting current until the resistance drop of the weld is in the order of 30% drop for uncoated materials or between 15% to 25% for coated materials.
